We recently caught up with Kyle Lucas to talk about their album release, touring and future plans.

What inspired you the most while making Almost Famous, Almost Broke?

This album was spawned from a very dark, yet creative place. Hence the title of the album.

I’m at a place in my career where I’m just now getting things cooking as far as the buzz is concerned, I’m finally making money, not as much as I want, but I’m FINALLY making money through music and people know who I am. But it’s always this like back and forth. I’m not that famous, but I’m famous. I’m not broke, but almost ya know?

I’ve been a professional recording artist for 10 years. All my friends and peers in music are rich and famous now, so it’s like this pull between okay, do I quit or do I keep going. I deal with that EVERY DAY ha-ha. So this album was a screen cap in the last year of my life.

Is there a chance we will see any upcoming music videos from the album?

We’re still thinking about that. I would love to do a music video but I also don’t know how affective they are in this day in age as far as how people consume music. I learned a lot putting out my last album, Marietta, Georgia: The Album, I put that out independent. The first time I released music without a label, so it’s my money I’m playing with now. And I realized the videos that I got done for free or damn near free did the same or better than the ones I dumped a lot of money into. So I don’t know. Of course I would LOVE to shoot videos for every song, but as far as if people care or it makes a difference, I’m not really sure.

When can we expect you to go back on tour?

Hopefully soon! We’re working on that side of it. It’s always been fucking impossible for me to get on tours, that’s one side of the game I haven’t cracked. So we’re trying.

What do you want people to know about now besides the stuff I’ve asked?

Just that I love my fans, that’s it. I have such a die-hard fan base that they are making it possible for me to make a living now doing music. I had to trim the fat to the old approach, way we did music in the past to make it more lucrative. But the fact of the matter is, my fans are fucking die hard. And they keep spreading the word and I get new fans every day. I see it. I answer all the messages myself. So just know I love you guys, and I’ll keep making music if you keep listening.
